Mataia Gales

Mataia Gales is the Director for Student Program Funding Administration within the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs. 

Mataia joined KU Student Affairs in 2019 as administrative assistant for the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs. In this role, she assisted with purchases for registered student organizations granted funds through Student Senate. In 2024, Mataia served as the assistant director for Student Senate leadership development, the primary advisor to Student Senate and its executive functions.  
She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a marketing communications concentration and an accounting minor from Emporia State University. Prior to coming to KU, Mataia worked for the Job Corps Outreach and Admissions in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She returned to Kansas to be closer to family and friends.
